In
2010 the authors of the book 100 Best Australian Albums ranked Diesel
and Dust No. 1. In 2021 it was listed at No. 5 in Rolling Stone
Australia's "200 Greatest Albums of All Time."

The
sound at the start of the song Bullroarer is made by a bullroarer,
which is a piece of wood attached to a length of cord and whirled
around in the air, making a sound capable of traveling long
distances..According to some anthropologists it is one of the
earliest artifacts that can be classified as a musical instrument,
having been used by many different cultures over nearly 20,000 years.
