Riptide

Two songs from Vance Joy, stage name of former aspiring professional Australian Rules football player James Keogh. I am advised by Australian music journalist Patrick Donovan that “Riptide is a stone cold Aussie classic”. These versions taken from YouTube, recorded at a concert at Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne in 2018.

Midnight Sun - RVG, aka Romy Vager Group, from their 2023 album Brain Worms.

Back In the Red - C.O.F.F.I.N., the acronym for Children of Finland Fighting in Norway. What the name means to this band from Sydney, I do not know. It is on their 2019 EP BE Gone. Celibate Rifles did the song, it was on an EP titled Platters du Jour in 1990.

I Believe - Hunters and Collectors, covering Ray Charles on their 1984 album Jaws of Life. Ray released the song I Believe To My Soul in 1959 as the B-side of his single I’m Movin’ On.

Salmon Song - Madder Lake, from their 1973 albim Stillpoint.

Monsoon Rain - Miriam Lieberman, from her 2009 album Wakili.

Paradise Garage - Babe Rainbow, from their EP Fresh As A Head Of Lettuce, a 2023 release.

Please Myself - Professor Ratbaggy, their album featuring Paul Kelly, 1999.

Bad Blood - Rebecca's Empire, their 1999 album Welcome.

Untouchable - Paul Kelly and the Coloured Girls, from the 1987 album Under the Sun. Also released as Paul Kelly and the Messengers.
