April 25 is Anzac Day in Australia and New Zealand, which celebrates the deep and enduring cultural and political bonds between the two nations, and is an occasion to remember the Australian and New Zealand soldiers who fought and died in war.

The Band Played Waltzing Matilda - Eric Bogle, from a 2013 concert. He wrote it in 1971. Born and raised in Scotland, Bogle emigrated to Australia at the age of 25. Irish band the Pogues did a brilliant version in 1985 on their album Rum, Sodomy and the Lash.

I Hate to Fight - Adrian Kosky, it was on his album The High Side of the Low End, from 2006. Kosky is also renowned as a player of the mountain dulcimer. He splits his time between western Victoria in Australia and Clarksdale, Mississippi.

When The Generals Talk - Midnight Oil, from their album Red Sails In The Sunset, a 1984 release.

The Twilights, from 1966 to 1969 they were one of the most successful pop groups in Australia, racking up eight consecutive national hit singles. We heard three of their 1967 singles:

- Cathy Come Home

- Time And Motion Study Man

- 9.50

- Bowling Brings Out The Swinger In You, also from 1967, the Twilights recorded this jingle to encourage people to go bowling.

Members of the Twilights included singer Glenn Shorrock, who later was one of the founders of the Little River Band, and Terry Britten on guitar, who became a popular songwriter for the likes of Tina Turner and Michael Jackson.

Thin Aspirations - Heir To the Squandered Millions, it's a single from their upcoming album.The band is led by Ross McLennan.

Crossing Open Ground - These Future Kings, a new release from an album that was recorded, and lost, 30-plus years ago; it's titled Via Dolorosa. The band was popular in the 1980s and '90s. Somehow the original album tapes ended up in Portugal.

The Way I Make You Feel - Ed Kuepper, a founding member of the Saints, from his 1991 album Honey Steel's Gold.

Junk - the Gin Club, although brief, it's the title track to their 2008 album.
