Dr. Stephen Rooklidge explores the music traditions of Scotland, Ireland and beyond. Blending piobaireachd and Gaelic song traditions with Celtic folk music, this hour show presents the best of archive recordings and modern interpretations of the music of the Isles.

Dr. Rooklidge started playing in the drum corps of the Iron Mountain pipe band (later City of Roses) in the mid-1970s and joined the Clan Macleay pipe band of Portland, Oregon a few years later. After 15 years as a bandsman and successful solo competitor into Senior Amateur grade, and trips to Scotland for music training with Jim (stix) Moore, ex-RHF, he stopped playing altogether when he went to university and settled into an engineering career.

Many years later, he looked back to his roots and started playing the bagpipes at the ripe old age of 53. Now a Grade 3 solo competitor, he travels around the west coast to highland games, playing piobaireachd with a set of custom made Burley bagpipes at the same low pitch he used to listen to as a young man. He hopes his knowledge of the music and traditions, and sizable collection of old LPs, will entertain all listeners.
