Norah Jones tribute to the Beatles plus Smooth Jazz artists contributions to TV and movie scores

Share Tweet Email

One of the Beatles most famous songs was Let It Be. This song was written by Paul McCartney. His inspiration  in writing this song was his mother, Mary Patricia McCartney, referred to in the song as Mother Mary. On January 30, 1969, The Beatles famously staged their final live performance on the rooftop of their Apple Corps headquarters in London’s Savile Row. Opening our music this week is a brand new release from a superstar. Late last year superb jazz singer and jazz pianist Norah Jones performed two rooftop tribute performances of Beatles songs from the Let It Be album (“I’ve Got A Feeling” and “Let It Be”),  with her band on the rooftop of New York’s Empire State Building. On May 18th Norah jones released her latest, a mini album of those two songs. We are playing  Norah Jones, up on the rooftop, with Let It Be.

While listening to tunes from Smooth Jazz artists, we often forget their wonderful contribution to our lives through music scores created to enhance our enjoyment of TV and movies. It is impossible to cover the thousands of movies, TV shows, soap operas, ESPN, news programs, etc that have featured Smooth Jazz artists music. I have previously given much coverage to pianist and Smooth Jazz icon David Benoit’s work on Peanuts movies and TV, Kirk Whalum’s sax solo in the middle of Whitney Houston’s most famous song I Will Always Love You, and Dave Koz’s work for ESPN. I will share on this program with you some of my other favorites.

Thank you for your continuing support of KKRN and of this program.
