Let’s catch you up on what is happening in Smooth Jazz. The artists are returning to live performances as things are opening up. Most venues are kindly asking that patrons be vaccinated and mask wearing is encouraged for protection of the artists and other attendees. I can not begin to cover all the performances that are occurring but here are a couple of my favorite upcoming events.

Dave Koz, Kirk Whalum, Mindi Abair, and Vincent Ingala, a great lineup of Smooth Jazz stars you have heard many times on this program, will appear together at an outdoor concert September 4th at the Quarry Park Amphitheater in Rocklin, California just east of Sacramento. For those of you that like to travel a bit further, Rick Braun and Richard Elliott will appear together at Temecula, Ca just north of San Diego on Oct 2nd. Rick Braun will also be performing October 17th at the granddaddy of Smooth Jazz festivals, the Catalina Island Jazztrax festival. That festival in addition will feature some thirty plus artists and groups that are the biggest names in Smooth Jazz, which undoubtedly will be an unforgettable experience. Catalina runs Thursday through Sunday for two consecutive weeks Oct. 14th through the 17th and Oct. 21st through the 24th.

And here is a local option. Grammy Award winning trumpeter Chris Botti will perform at our Cascade Theater September 14th. It is a chance to see a world class musician perform in Redding. His performances are incredibly entertaining. Please stick around for our second hour of this week’s show where I will be playing music and talking about Chris Botti’s remarkable career.

Thank you for your support of this program and KKRN.
