Before we get to Smooth Jazz this week,  I have music from a terrific Jazz project. On our March 13th show, I featured recent work from Jon Batiste,  the band leader on Stephen Colbert’s Late Show.  He is one of the current premier jazz artists and he was the  winner of a Golden Globe Feb. 3rd for his work on  Jazz compositions and arrangements for The Disney Pixar animated film Soul.

Now we find Jon Batiste also won the Oscar for Best Original Score for a Motion Picture for his excellent work on Soul.

Disney and Pixar’s movie Soul is an animated look at a jazz musician as he attempts to return to earth for the gig of a lifetime. An album of the original motion picture soundtrack contains 42 of those compositions and arrangements. I have for you a medley of 7 of those short works by Batiste featuring his piano and vocals. You will hear Collard Greens And Cornbread Strut - Joe’s Lowdown Blues - Let Your Soul Glow - Feels So Good - Fruit Of The Vine - Celestial Spaces In Blue - and It’s All Right.

Thank you for your support of this program and KKRN.
