I will start the second hour of this week's show with a selection from our in studio guest in April Sarah McKenzie that gave us that remarkable interview. From her second album Close Your Eyes, you will hear her sing a Sammy Cahn tune I Should Care. After performing around the world since that interview, she returns to the United States for two performances at 6;00 PM and 7:30 PM on Sunday June 23rd. Sarah will be the last performer at this year's two week long 37th annual San Francisco Jazz Festival. Her first show is already very close to being sold out.
In the first hour I have new releases from Pieces Of A Dream, Thom Rotella, Craig Sharmat, Walter Beasley, Elan Trotman, John Novello, The Rippingtons, Lebron, and Seth MacFarlane.
In the middle of the first hour, I will play the Billboard top three songs in smooth jazz for this week. There is a new number one this week.
Hour two is devoted to the classics from this format.
For this weeks closing classic among classics segment, I return to 1976. Long thought to be a classic that helped pave the way to smooth jazz was an album by guitarist George Benson titled Breezin’. It ignited his career and produced two of his ten Grammy Awards including a song of the year for all categories This Masquerade. I played most of this album on our George Benson shows but not this lovely tune that showcased his guitar work. This week we will hear So This Is Love.
